How to Generate YANG Annotation Modules
This new application note shows a simple yet powerful method for the custom processing or manipulation of YANG data models by converting them to YIN (the XML YANG equivalent), using standard XML processing tools, and then converting back to YANG. The application note uses the generation of YANG annotation modules as an example.
For over a decade, OneAccess Networking has delivered enterprise network functions designed specifically for service providers’ needs: performance in compact multi-service access routers.
To ensure its solutions can easily scale to meet operators’ needs today and in the future, OneAccess launched a complete redesign of its core networking stack. That required a switch to multi-core technology, triggering the decision to look for a new management and programmability solution.
The solution was clear - Tail-f ConfD.

Generating YANG Annotation Modules
Recognizing both how common it is for users to use Tail-f YANG extension statements inline as well as how tedious it is to manually extract the annotation statements into an annotation module, we have written a new application note which shows how to quickly and easily automate the extraction of annotation statements.
Automation is the Building Block Behind Autonomous Networking
NETCONF & YANG has been the key enabler for standards-based network programmability. In turn, network programmability has been the key enabler for automation. It is only natural to think about what is next and what automation is the key enabler for.
